3 Speculations of what is going to happen in Infinity War 2 – A deep dive into its potential story
1. Who actually survived?
Infinity War part 1 ended with Thanos collecting all six Infinity Stones and half the universe’s population has perished. The Avengers seemingly have lost this battle and lost half of its members, including Star Lord, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Groot, and Doctor Strange. However, even with such a defeating ending, the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe actually looks relatively certain. Remember. We still have the original Avengers left, on the other hand, none of the characters has a sequel announced, unlike Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy, we are looking at a Infinity War sequel that will see the original Avengers somehow save the others. Nevertheless, it is certain that we will lose some original Avengers in part 2.
2. How will Thanos be defeated
There are 2 popular theories involving time travel and the quantum realm. We will discuss the quantum realm in the next point. It is entirely reasonable to assume that Infinity War 2 would involve time travel, as once in time two Infinity Stones are were in close proximity, so our heroes would be able to get both the Mind Stone and the Space Stone at once. But how is it possible for the Avengers to travel back in time? One way is through the use of the Time Stone. Doctor Strange can use the Time Stone to rewrite the past, but this seems less likely as Doctor Strange perished. On the other hand, it would make sense for the future Sorcerer Supreme to help the Avengers to defeat Thanos.
3. Captain Marvel
Considering Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) was revealed in the Infinity War post-credit scene, it is reasonable to expect her to save the day somehow, and so we move into the 2nd way the Avengers would defeat Thanos. It is likely Captain Marvel would share her knowledge of the quantum realm with Ant-Man. Time and space are irrelevant in the quantum realm, so both would enter the realm to somehow traverse the multiverse or back in time to discover a way to beat Thanos, as well as find a way to bring back the others. This theory is possible because both Captain Marvel and Ant-Man are somehow tied to the Quantum Realm. Ant-Man enters the realm when he shrinks beyond subatomic level, seen in Ant Man and the Wasp when they attempted to traverse the quantum realm to find Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer).
